Since making this video I have clarified the land ownership of the pedestrianised area of Trinity Square. That land is privately owned but of course it is open for public access and public right of way. In terms of the current law in England; being in a ‘public place’ and being in an area ‘accessible to the public’ are two entirely different things. You can think of Trinity Square as being of a...

You should do a video of benwell lived here all my life its never been the best but the last 10 years its went right down hill
On my list 👍🏻
7:14 😂
Another area brought down deliberately by a Labour Council, same with many others such as South Shields. Gateshead used to have excellent retail premises and a good night life. Thought it might of come back to life when Gateshead council managed to obtain funds for urban rejuvenation a few years back but most of the cash was wasted just like South Tyneside council did.
Shocking they’re in a white Range Rover 🧠🪦🔔🔚
I live in Australia. I have never seen the Sycamore tree but had wanted too. Had planned to visit the area to see it on my next trip over. When I heard of its destruction I was horrified. I brought it up in my classroom of year 4 students a few months later talking about personal responsibility. That your actions have consequences not just to you but your family, your community. My students were equally horrified by the story. I showed pictures of the grand old tree and several students cried. None could understand what possessed these two people to commit such a totally pointless act at such a massive cost to themselves and their community. I probably won’t visit that area now on my next trip to the UK. So sad for such a community to lose so much and continue to lose just because two people cannot think past themselves, the overall impact of such an act. So incredibly selfish and thoughtless. ‘What did the tree do to them’ - as one of my 10 year old students stated.
Thank you for sharing this ☝️🙏
I think a good sculpture from the trunk of the tree would look good on the stump, that’s if they haven’t turned the original trunk to sawdust or logs.
It's a crime against nature and the sentiments of many people, let alone the damage to the tree and the wall and any tourism that it brought the site. I've never been there, but I loved the way it looked. RIP 🌳. I'm glad there will be a huge fine and a substantial sentence for the crime. Great report. Thank you. 👏
I’m a North Shields lad, and Wallsend desperately needs the Council to try and tidy the town up, like they’re doing at Shields. Because it’s a Dump at the present moment. It’s a shame there good honest people from Wallsend. Shame on you Councillors
Thank you for sharing 💚 what happened with the campsite guy..? Is he innocent? 💚
It’s covered in the video 👍🏻
@@TynesideLife Thanks.. I watched the whole video! I didn`t hear that he was innocent, just that he was on bail.. then they arrested two other guys. I`m so glad he is found innocent, he has had a very tough time. The tree belonged to the whole country and that day, our British heritage was chain sawed 🤍🇬🇧🕊️
@@MerkabaKid you may have misheard, or skipped a bit. I explained that No Further Action was taken against him by the police, as was the 16 year old. They were no longer on bail, or being treated as suspects from that point. There is no such thing in the English justice system as being categorised as ‘innocent’. There would be nothing stopping him being re arrested if new evidence comes to light.
@@TynesideLife Thank you.. I just re-watched it.. I didn`t miss bits 😊 in fact I listened twice to some bits, as I really felt for the tree and still do feel for the stump of the tree💚 think I was just listening out for the word, innocent. Does innocent until proven guilty still apply in England? Excellent video info, thanks for shouting this out! Now we have to wait until December 💚
Hi yes it does, we have a presumption of innocence until proven guilty. That’s different however to be ‘categorised’ as innocent. If one is an arrested as a suspect snd released NFA (no further action) that just means there is insufficient evidence to charge. Glad you found the video helpful 👊🏻👍🏻
Fantastic reporting. You did however mention that the crime happened on a clear night and this wasn't the case. I live fairly close to the site and there was a violent storm that night. I genuinely though I'd lose my roof. I first thought the storm had knocked over the tree and was shocked to find otherwise
It was described in that area as a clear night sky with high winds
The geordie is a person who fought in the civil war for the royalists under the duke of Northumberland hence geordies and we mackems fought for the parliamentarians the common people
Sorry bud, that’s not where the term comes from. See pinned comment 👍🏻

@@StephenSmall-sf5um well you’re categorically wrong 🤷🏻♂️ thanks for watching the video 👍🏻

Hi Eddie really enjoyed the video of Wallsend. Micky Blench here I am Vice Chairman of the Wallsend RAOB club and ex convenor of Swan Hunters. We just refurbished our bar and its theme and decor is well worth a look. I invite you as quest to visit our club. We have a group on Bank Holiday Monday 26th August. We will look after you and your lass if you want to come. Great people great atmosphere great club. Kind Regards Michael Blench
Hi Michael, thank you for reaching out. Could you email me please at enquiries@tynesidelife.com 👍🏻
Good job the fuzz didn’t see the camera, otherwise you would be in real trouble.
Gave me a good impression of Wallsend.Thanks.
Dead right about towns around Newcastle Australia being named after Tyneside places. Around where I live near Newcastle we have a Wallsend, Gateshead, Pelaw, Heddon Greta( not on -the-wall) Whickham, Jesmond, Gosforth, Morpeth, Hexham, Seaham, Lambton. And then when they ran outta Tyneside names they started with Welsh names from the miners, all within 40 kms we've got a Cardiff, Swansea, Neath, Gresford etc
Oh wow! 👍🏻
Boring.
You well look like police 😂
😅
Anyone outraged about what is happening to St Johns church in Stoke on Trent? And the graveyard there? Defiled by the invaders.
That’s awful Lily but no, didn’t know about it. The only reason we know about the Sycamore Gap case is because it’s a UNESCO World Heritage Site (Taj Mahal & Tower of London are others…), due to the historical significance and is global news.
Never seen the like of this story. Someone cuts down a beloved tree and I hope they are punished... ...But it is being reported as if it is a MURDER.
See video bio 👍🏻
I hope both of them get the 10 years 😢😢
Multiple motorcycle world enduro champion Billy Bolt is a Wallsend lad
Great interesting video! Just an idea if you’re looking for new places to visit, you should check out Killingworth, lots of interesting stuff about George Stephenson in the area
I dont beleive any "expert witnesses "in newcastle most are people who made up mind from beginning and lie.and judges corrupt.so are sicitors esp one barrister who i would like catching out in his perversion.
The security guy is wrong, you can film as there is no signs saying otherwise but then again he didn't look too clever lol
Great Documentary as usual worth sharing.
Champion hinnie 😁
I hope they get the max too. Thanks for your coverage.
will they kill it off or let it grow back?
Great to see you visit us in Wallsend, I live here & got to say it's a canny place
You’ve done an excellent job reporting and explaining this, thanks
👊🏻👍🏻
I can’t think or understand why they did it, I mean if they could somehow make money out of it ?? but there’s no reason to go to the trouble taking chainsaws and fuel and doing this except for just being pure horrible and pathetic
yeh i can imagine the resources wasted because of media coverage rather than the real severity of the crime
Great pub. I remember during the covid days when every gig my wife had booked for my birthday were called off. Heard a local dude Russ Tippins was playing. 28th December, walked half cut from the Haymarket in Newcastle, was a massive hike after a few (definitely taxi next time) but it was worth it. Lovely warm reception and the night was amazing
When I 1st saw this, I thought it wasn't a major deal. After watching this video, I am also outraged. What kind of person does this? It's beyond comprehension. It's not "just a tree" it's history. Thank you for a reasonable, informative presentation
☝️👊🏻
My wife has just commented that you look like your wearing a stab vest,
😂
It's only a fucking tree 🌳 😂
Awful place wallsend.
If you’ve got nothing kind to say, say nothing. Were you never taught that as a child?
Thank you, Chief Inspector Fenny.
Oxygen thieves,.. did they say. Why ?
WTF is in their heads i would not imprison them i would have them pocking up leaves for ever TIMED
Completely despicable act, it’s heartbreaking. Covering their faces like that, did they think they were attending The Met Gala in Manhattan!
Don't know how factual it is but there is a tale that one of the female singers of the B52's used to work in the Anson years ago.
That’s right yeah 👍🏻
Excellent report. This should be headline news. Can't wait for justice to be served...
Great job man
Very insightful. Like you I’ve been and passed by, so it’s interesting to see how it is and the amazing heritage it has. As they say, every day’s a school day! Cheers
A very thorough report. Thank you.
They should have to pay for the financial fall out for their actions. That place with the tree was the main attraction for visitors. With the tree gone, its not the same, artistically not the same.
It's just a tree for Gods sake.
Why would anyone be so twisted and cruel to do such a thing to something so old and treasured? Why??????
I live in belize now and not the north east of the uk, it broke my heart once this tree was cut, I knew it as a child, now I’m 55 !
I was in Belize for 6 months back in 86’ 😃
